Day 33: Chris Kirkpatrick
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28
While I cannot say 2024 was a bad year, it was not without its notable disappointments.
After identifying an opportunity and two-plus years of nights and weekends working in my garage, I developed a product that I was ready and excited to bring to market. After two years of positive feedback and open and bilateral communications with a major customer (in which we regularly exchanged specifications, performance data, etc.) the entire opportunity vanished in spectacular fashion. The client imploded after shareholder disputes spawned lawsuits and eventual bankruptcy, with the recast company abandoning the market segment my product was built for. To say ‘the door was closed’ was to state the obvious.
I’m grateful to a pastor and friend Tim Lucas who gave voice to what I had been perceiving: He said “... His “no’s” are as good as His “go’s”...”. Do we believe this? Do I believe this? Can I state, as Richard Boyle did with all affection, that “God’s providence is mine inheritance”?
I will boast of our God, our heavenly Father and of His great love, care and sovereignty over all the earth and our lives: that He works providentially in our lives and engineers EVERY circumstance for our ‘good’. Whether this chapter of mine is a test or a teaching (or both?) I don’t know.
This story isn’t over and I do not know where He is leading; but I know the one who leads and He is faithful. He goes before me and He is my rear guard, my ever present help and blessing.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your profound faithfulness over the years of my life. Thank You for Your great promises of a future and that You have intentions for me yet to be discovered and revealed. I pray also that You would take great pleasure as we put our faith in You - while we know and proclaim - that You are indeed both sovereign and present over all our circumstances.
