Boast In The Lord January 3rd, 2022

A Word From Katie Ressa

“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise,
His greatness no one can fathom” (v3).
“They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty
and I will meditate on your wonderful works” (v5)…”
and they will celebrate your abundant goodness” (v7).

I chose this Psalm because we are currently in a season of abundant blessing and I want to praise the Lord for His overwhelming love.
Looking back over the years, Derek and I have seen that God’s faithful provision marks many moments in our family history. However, before that provision came, we often endured seasons of need and long waiting periods. Waiting was not easy. We saw obvious ways that God could provide and so we’d pray for that…and we would wait…and wait. We’d get glimmers of hope, and even were given promises from others, but often those promises never came through.
The waiting and confusion were hard for me but I kept getting on my knees choosing to give Him whatever ounce of faith I had left, knowing deep down He was still our Provider. We continued to put the Lord first and faithfully give our tithe to Him, even when we didn’t have enough. It was our personal step of faith knowing all we have is His and when we give a portion back to the Lord, He is faithful to provide for our needs.
Praise God that time after time, God did answer our prayers and it was in ways we didn’t even think to pray for and there were even times He provided before we even knew there was a need.  He showed us that His means of providing and His timing are always way better than ours. Those years helped us learn that when we put our trust in Him, even in the silent waiting, He is moving and orchestrating and He is faithful.
And now this year, God has shown us how when we follow His lead and keep our eyes on Him, He is faithful to keep showing us the next step. We were in search of a new home in the middle of a crazy market, but we knew He had a plan.  His peace held us at every step and now we are seeing the amazing gift He had lined up for us.  God provided for us again…abundantly beyond what we prayed for and in a way we could have never orchestrated ourselves.  The personal touches God added were so humbling…the fact that He cares so much to even add those shows how intimately He knows us and how full of love He really is.
Verse 13 says, “The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving towards all He has made. The Lord lifts up all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.” (Psalm 145: 13b-16)

Heavenly Father,
I praise You, for you hear our prayers and are always faithful. I praise You, for you know each of us intimately and touch each of us in ways that speak of Your abundant love. You bless those with strength and peace whose hope is in you. Even when we don’t see it, you are moving. Help us trust You in our times of need and waiting. Help us see Your fingerprints in our lives and “tell of the awesome power of your works”…to share testimony of all the big and small ways You are at work in our lives…to boast in You…to be an encouragement and light to others. I celebrate and give You praise for all you have done and will continue to do!
Amen.
