Boast In The Lord January 2nd, 2022

A Word From Bethany Panza

Psalm 105:1-6
1Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name;
    make known among the nations what He has done.
2 Sing to Him, sing praise to Him;
    tell of all His wonderful acts.
3Glory in His holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
4Look to the Lord and His strength;
    seek His face always.
5Remember the wonders He has done,
    His miracles, and the judgments He pronounced,
6you His servants, the descendants of Abraham,
    His chosen ones, the children of Jacob.

I love these verses because they are a prayer and reminder for acknowledging our God and who He is and what He has done. I love how David reminds himself and others in verse 1 to praise God only and put Him above all else.
These verses reminded me that when I’m boasting in the Lord, it’s not for the glory of others, but only for the glory of Christ. In verse 3, those who seek Christ can rejoice. Seek means to intimately search. When we intimately search and acknowledge the Lord for all of the wonders He has done in general, but also specifically in our personal lives, we can find joy!
I especially love verse 4 when it says to look to the Lord in strength and seek His face. We can get so caught up at looking to the world and it can be wearisome. He is the One who is faithful to His people. When we boast in the Lord, seek strength from Him, and remember what our Lord has done for us, we find peace and joy even in our most difficult circumstances.
I think these verses are a prayer and a command.  We must put aside our troubles, constantly focus, and remind ourselves of all that God has done.  From there we bring praise and honor to Him and joy to our lives!

Father God, I come before you laying my troubles aside to praise your name! Thank you for all the blessings you have poured over me! Your name deserves praise! Give me the strength I need for today and thank you for all you are doing whether it is big or small, you are mighty and holy. Let all that I do praise and bring glory to your name. Lord this day is yours and I thank you for who you are! Amen.
