Parents

Hi Parents!

Dads, did you know that you are the most important person in the life of your adolescent. The more your child feels connected to you, the greater:

  1. Their risk-taking behaviors are reduced (Burge et al., 1997; Noppe and Noppe, 1997)
  2. Their competence in interpersonal relationships (Schneider and Younger, 1996)
  3. Their self-esteem (Rice and Cummings, 1996)
  4. Likelihood of positive identity formation (Schultheiss and Blustein, 1994)
  5. Social competence (Paterson et al., 1995)
  6. Career success (O’Brien 1996)
  7. Problem-solving ability and experience (Cobb, 1996)

So, make the most of this time of life when you’re most important!
